To qualify to receive our medical transcriptionist test, individuals must be proficient
in English, grammar, and punctuation and possess a strong knowledge of the AAMT Book of
Style. We ask that applicants have a minimum of two years full-time experience or that
they have completed education at the top AHDI-approved MT Course, scoring 96% or higher,
to be considered for a position.
For general transcription, applicants must have an excellent grasp of grammar and punctuation
rules as well as strong typing skills, technical proficiency with computers, and excellent
internet research abilities.
Minimum technical requirements are: High-speed internet; Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7;
Word 2003 or higher; voice file player such as ExpressScribe with a USB foot pedal; firewall,
spyware removal tool, and Antivirus program. Medical transcriptionists must also have the
AAMT Book of Style 2nd or 3rd edition, a medical spellchecker, and reference materials of your choice.
